Any Land Hermit Crab Owners

Hiya everyone, do any of you keep Land Hermit Crabs?

I have 26 of them, i've had them a year this month, looking to chat with any other owners.

Gill has recently got 2 hermits. Not sure what species they are but they are very cute.

I have them and they are adorable little bundles of fun.
They will eat anything adn love watching them drag it off to eat.
Mine love climbing so have added tall twigs for them to Climb. and i let them climb around the Banana Palm for excersize every couple of days.

What do you find is there favorite food.
Mine love Riccia and Soft Leaf Plants and Grapes.

Nice to meet some hermie owners, did you all them them from Pets at Home?

Mine love anything you give them, they love apple, peanut butter, cooked chicken and unsalted popcorn, they love dragging that off to eat lol.

Wow Marg yours are big.

I got mine from my Fave LFS and they were only 5Wuid each.
Would not touch any livestock from PAH with a Barge Pole - Tooo Many Complaints and no-one ther eknows what they are selling, let alone husbandry.

I will have to try them on some meat.

Mine are liking Grapes and Banana ATM

The spend most of the day climbing in around the bogwood and then come down in the evening to feed and then drag bits off.

I have 3 now and love watching them, they have such personalities.

Cool, I tried some prawns and shrimp but they just smelt them and moved away.
then i gave them some guppies and they soon tucked into them.

They really Like Creeping Jenny, They will climb around in it taking little snippets here and there.


I have posted some pix in the Main Pix section Called Hermes and Hermione.

I need to take some pix of the new baby.

Made a little pico for it this evening and he sits ontop of my Wireless router _ good way to save on using a heat matt. Its lost the tips of most of its claws so keeping him an his own, so i can kep an eye on it.,

Named it Buttons. as it is so tiny. 10pence peice sized.
Feel like getting another one tommorrow. theryre so addictive and very easy to keep.

yeh.. the only lfs near me is mega expensive.

snakes that usually sell for £30, are like £80....

They are very addictive i have to say, 26 of them and i'd get more given half a chance lol

If i want any more i'll have to get them off the net, theres nowhere near me now that sells them.
