i want to buy these 2 cichlids, they caught my eye and their cool and tiny. I think they might be african but i think very highly it isnt. They are at meiger and it didnt have tag and they were in the ciclid tank with a saml midas and 5 tiger oscars, babys also. The 1s i want are blue with black stripes, any ideas?

update they are convicts, my question now is what needs to be changed to hold them in my tank?

if you want 2 you better get a 20 gal just for them because they will breed no matter what an will get very terrirtorial and kill the fish in your tank as it is over stocked already. so if you want a pair i recomend getting a new 20 gal

i cant get a new 20 what can i do to my curent tank, would i ahve to take evrything back?

Is it that important that you are willing to change a setup you've had for at least a month? (I take it you haven't bought the fish alreqady...)

I'd say save the money and buy them later when you can accomodate them better. That way you won't feel sorry about an impulse buy or returning (or giving away for nothing) your fish.

lol i know what u mean, i just dont know they looked so cool, i havent seen a fish i just "had to have" in while in fact it onlt happened to my once that was with my clown. How much would i have to change my setup?

If you want my opinion, you shouldn't even think of getting ANYTHING else until you update your tanks. You have to decide whether you want some of these fish or not. For the clown loaches, and stated in an earlier post of mine, you need more, as they are a schooling fish, and they need more room. A 20 gallon won't accomodate them for long, and they will need a 55 gallon MINIMUM within a year or so, probably. Ottos are also schooling fish, so you need more of those as well.

:/ ottos died i stated in a early post im getting a 55 gallon next christmas stated in another post :/

I'd stick with community, peaceful fish for some time. A little bit of experience (provided you are still learning) will save you grief and money.

Sorry about that...I didn't see the post, and I was kind of wound up about something already. And about the 55 gallon, how can you be sure? I would save up my money, and MAKE SURE I got that 55 gallon. Meanwhile, maybe you could give back your Clown Loach to the LFS for store credit, then when you have the 55 gallon, get more. They really do need a larger tank that 20 gallon and need to be in a larger group than 1.
