i own a leopard plec it is identical to the fish in the photo and i was told by another owner of one on here and several others that they are know as GIBBICEP PLECSRobertK said:I don't think its a Gibbeceps, it was called a Leopard plec in the LFS but I think they just call them what they like.
I had a look through the pics on Planetcatfish but couldn't see any thing like it.
I have had mine in a fifty gallon for about 2 months he started of at 3 inches and is now about 4 inches, I think they grow according to tank size, I don't think our fish will reach 24 inches, probably sixteen at most and more likly 7-12 inches, i heard of somone whos only grew to 6 inches in 3 months and hasn't grown more than quarter of an inch in the last 4 years in a fifty five gallon so we will hav to see what happens, does yours often change colour from light to dark and colours in between, mine sometimes looks like a completely different fish.RobertK said:Thanks Ryan.
So its going to grow quite large then, all the books I've seen with Gibbiceps in say they grow to over 24".

The more pictures I look through on planetcatfish the more I tend to agree with David, it looks more like a bristlenose then any thing else, the closest match I can see so far is an L110/L157 both the pictures seem to be of the same fish.david27 said:could be a bristlenose its a bit hard to see, doesn't look quite right for a gibbeceps
I think theres a website "planet catfish" that will help you indentify it.
