Just picked up 16x 8mm lid clips off Amazon today, which I'm going to use as the brace for the new lid. I just ordered the lid as well £38 was the final price, as I went for 5mm and changed the smaller cutout to a triangle rather than a square. As its only purpose is to allow the heater cable to go behind the tank. The lid clips are also a tad higher than my old ones, so the lid may actually be level with the glass rim. I did consider splitting the lid design into two parts to avoid bending, but the cost went up over my budget. I could see about cutting it myself, as I do have access to a table saw and circular saw, but I will see how this design holds up first.
