I have a set of LED moonlights. Just the type you can buy off ebay and glue (or silicone) onto the tank. I had to buy a power adapter plug for it at the time. AC/DC 12v i think! They have worked great for about a year.

Now the lights come on, but are really dull. I thought they were off until i took a closer look! How do i know if its the lights, the power adapting plug, or both which is broken?

Buy a new light springs to mind. That would rule that option out.

You can buy plug testers now adays though. Maybe a cheaper option to give you an answer.

Think it could be a break in the negative somewhere down the string of LEDs. Ill clarify this tomorrow and ask the boss. Check the solder joints to see if any are broke. Can you find a link to a similar type of LED?

If you type aquarium moon light into eBay you'll see hundreds of them haha.

I figure I'll have to buy new ones, but thought it was worth finding out if someone could pin point the problem to save me buying both bits again it doing trial and error.

Ac/dc is going.. If is it led, u don't see any lights. Use old mobile fone charger to test. ( at your own risk) and use..
