Hi All,

I have received 2x plants of Anubias coffeefolia.
Does it need to be planted (my gravel is fairly large)?
Or should it be tied to bogwood? It came in a pot with the sponge around it. Should I tease this off before tying to the wood?

Thanks
Squidward

Yes, remove any wool surrounding it and its best to place it against wood. Keeping it tied down lightly will assist it in taking a hold and slowly growing along the surface. It can be planted in the gravel you just have to make sure the rhyzome isnt covered else it will rot and die off. Personally i think it will look a million times better tied to wood growing up along it.

Verminator,
Thanks, I dug them up and managed to attach them to the bogwood with a rubber band. Once the roots take hold on the woood, I will cut the bands away.

Btw, I have read that Anubias are more bog plants than true aquatic plants. And that they do not survive long term in an aquarium.
Can anyone confirm this? Or not?

They could possibly be marsh plants, but i've never heard of them dying in an aquarium. I know it is said that they grow so slowly that the plant itself doesnt actually know if it above or below water, so slow is its growth. As ofr it dying i've never heard such tales being told. It does wonders both above and below the water for years and years from what i gather.

It should be fine ;)

Be carefull the elastic bands arent to tight on the rhyzome. I used elastic bands and some killed the plants because they pressed to tighly and others the bands disintergrated underwater before the plant took hold and they floated off. Just a word of thought for you :)

I used the thinnest elastic bands I could get and tied them mainly around the roots. Thanks for the warming.

Approx how long will it take them to attach?
