hey guys, i'm back!

i've definitely got a male and female..but they sure don't like each other!
I'll post pics sometime probably..but the male shows almost no red, and the female has got the red belly. she's colored up a bit and her fins are developed a bit more now.

now my question is...why is my male so mean to the female? they stay on opposite sides of the tank, but if he sees her he darts after her and chases her into hiding. she's significantly smaller than him though..she's also much more peaceful regarding the other fish in the tank. he's about 1.5-2" and she's about 1"...will they get along better once she gets bigger?

The will eventually get along( or atleast, they SHOULD). I would just try to provide as many hiding places as possible for the female. And frequent water changes.

alright thanks krib!
i've got about 5 minutes of battery left on my laptop cause i forgot my power cord or i'd post pics..but i'm certain they are m/f now.

what would be the best type of hideout for them? we've got rocks laying on top of one another to make like little caves under them, but they don't really go in there, maybe it's too low? there's this like stump decoration that my gf put in that has two holes that fish can swim in, but they rarely go through that either..what's the ideal size or shape of hideouts for them?

You know how you can get terra cotta plates to put under a flower pot? If you get a small one and then put a hole in it, that would work. I'd get more than 1 though.

is there anyway to have the tank comfortable for the kribs..but not quite what they'd prefer to spawn?
like in order for them to spawn if they want..but not go on a spawning rampage possibly. i wouldn't mind if they spawn..but i've read where they spawned twice before the people could even get rid of the first batch.

also, my male and my gourami scrapped a bit, but all seems settled now. the male krib got two slits in his tail, i guess it'll heal, i'm dosing with melafix. but he also has a white spot. i thought it might be ick, cause last time i was home i noticed we had a minor case, and i treated and it cleared right up. but he still has a white spot on his tail..and there's actually one on his dorsal fin but its hard to see. do you think i should look into it on the emergency page? i know it's not ich cause it was there like a week ago, the exact same white spot. it's in the first male pic if you can make it out. maybe it's just a healing sore from their fighting.

p.s. the kribs get along fine now. the female is like 3/4" or maybe 1.5 cm smaller than the male. they don't seem "too friendly" yet, but he's not chasing her everytime he sees her now, they swim together a lot.

The male will heal. They will spawn as long as there is some kind of cave. If there are no caves, they might not spawn. Depends on how bad they want to breed.
