Another Platy Question

Hi,
Is it possible once your fry grow up for them to mate with each other? Or is it best to get a different fish so it wont cause difficulties like in Us such as "RETARDATION"? I know it might be stupid but I just thought I'd ask.

There will always be a few retarded ones at birth though......
