From all the people telling me you will catch the betta bug and myself saying now. I have finaly caught it... I have Bubbles Which is my own personaly betta. Peach which was a rescue betta which is going to someone ont the forum that will care for him and in a good home he deserves. And today I got another one... I havent got a name for him yet. He was in with a schoal of sliver sharks and doesnt have any finage left... So I brought him and hopfuly get him back to full health like I did to Peach. The new betta is a purple colour and because of the finage we dont know what tail type he might be. Because he fins are short niped and short he looks like a female... Bless him lol.

Will post pics when he settles in a little better...

Where have you put this one though hon? I thought Peach was being rehomed as he had to stay in a plastic breeder trap>?

I got this one is the same size as Bubble is in but no deco just a heater in this one... so doing 2 daily water changes on this... But I will have to move this one into the breeding trap when Peach is gone ...

Keep him in there! don't move him to the breeder trap just add a filter and you have a quarentine/ hospital tank for you other fish and rescues!

Argue the point with your mum and tell her it isn't just a hobby and love of yours buy you are saveing lives and it is even becoming a buisness venture.

I have to agree with Forestpisces, the breeder trap is not a great idea if you are going to keep rescuing them, also if you plan on rehoming this one, it may take far longer than with peaches as you can never guareentee.

Get a £4 Elite Mini Filter, 2 silk plants as such and leave him be.. Go with Forestpisces on it is a love of hobby, but I really would not keep getting them up against her wishes, as it is isnt fair on the fish. Of course if you relocate things and such and have more room who could argue with that?

well its not at my moms house. I hardly live there. Only go back there to feed my main tank and reptiles. And get some clean clothes.
And it would be round my boufriends house. And he had already two tanks in the room. He is very hard on eletrics and water... So this would be a no. The breeding net is a large enought space for them to swim and Peach is happy in there, no problems with him so i dont see why this is a problem at the end of the day...

Well, it looks like not going to be changing your mind... the reference I will make to you is would you like to live in a closet for the rest of your life? You will be able to move about freely but limitedly. How big is the net thing as you have seen the arguments on here about minimum room ranging from 3-5g to keep a betta happy and well looked after. It is probably an improvement on the store, just, but really should only be temporary. Also being in the main tank he will be filtered and heated I guess, but what does he have to entertain him, can he swim through plants or anything as such?

I am not trying to be too negative to you and will now take my beak out, I just think if you are going to serious go into this rescue business, you really need to consider the fish more. I plan on rescuing bettas to give them better lives, I could do it now if I really wanted by giving an inadequately small space and limited surrounds, but I don't as I really want to have them filtered, heated and spaced properly. Also if they are ill and damaged (which rescue ones Im sure will be) they are not going to want other tankmates to stress them out and will need quality water and quiet unstressful surroundings.

That is just my two cents, I am sure everyone will have their opinion and some will disagree with me but this is me. Just please consider all aspects. ;)

Even more importantly you have no idea what diseases or parasites your new additions might be carrying and by adding them to your main tank you are endangering Bubbles every time. I am fixing a betta for my friend and first he looked like he ewas just constipated, but then he developed a bacterial infection which looked like fungus but wasn't. I had to treat with Pimafix, then Maracyn and I just started my second 5-day run of tetracycline. If Bubbles were lucky enough not to contract what the newcomers have, he would still undergo the stress of medications, etc. Please weigh this in your decision too.

Im trying my best to set up a spare tank. Its not in bubbles tank it is in the main tropical tank. if i cannot setup a another 3 G Tank then i will be giving the rescuse up till i can ge two-four different tanks set up... and just sell equipment instead

That may be a food CT as worse, it may not be one fish, it may be several that get ill from having that one betta in a breeder trap..

Hope the stocking of equipment is going well

Can see your point though... Only othe thing is I get a slighter bigger tank and section it off for the rescue betta and bubbles. they would have 2.5G each which is just under what Bubbles has now. But that still means that Bubbles is getting all the treatment...

Im working on this thats all....
