Hi guys...

Found the forum through Google - seems super friendly (unlike some other specialist forums) and thought I'd jump in.

I'm a low-level fish ownber having only recently bought a Baby Biorb for my daughter that I've become a little obsessed with!

Anyway... had one deceased fish already so quickly started to learn about creating a healthy environment. getting there but slowly... I can see a larger aquarium in the not too distant future - don;t tell the wife! :shifty:

I'll be jumping in with some readings soon as my tank seems very sensitive at the moment but for now, Cheers...

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Have you done a fishless cycle?

Unfortunately not, I bought the tank, turned it on, 48 hours, fish in. I know NOW that that was not wise but was completely unaware when I first got them

Hopefully the tank will settle down and I'll keep on top of the water conditions. I've been doing regular water changes and hoovering the gravel too. Not sure if changing the filter medium would help at this stage? It's been about a six weeks.

Don't change the filter medium now!! You're just to the point of having it where you want it!

Get yourself an API Master Test Kit ASAP and that will help you get familiar with what your water is doing.

Cheers and

Do not change the filter media, regardless of what the shop tell you. Please look up the fish in cycle in the beginners section. It is harder than fish less but its what's going to keep your fish alive.
