my black red-tailed shark is being very aggresive to new fish i introduce into my tank, he chases them around and ive already had one female Kribensis Chichlid die from stress after my shark bullied it, is there anything i can do or any steps i can take to stop him being so darn agressive? :X

plz reply :)

thankyou

move it to another tank

my other tank is a community tank, containing platys, tetras, minnows and a siamese fighter

is it advised to put such an aggressive shark into the tank (he's about 4cms long)

How many gallons is the tank, red ailed sharks are aggressive as they get older, do you have plenty of hiding spaces, as sharks like to hide.

its 45 litres

i have 3 tall plants, 1 small plant, an artificial mangrove root, a bridge and a barrel

ill post pictures soon

oh, by the way these are my fish:

1 Dwarf Guorami (male)
1 Dwarf Guorami (female)
1 Angel Fish (gender unknown)
1 Sucking Loach (male)
1 Kribensis Cichlid (male)
2 kribensis Cichlids (female)
1 Black Red-Tailed Shark (male)

:sly:

think part of your problem may be lack of space for the shark as 45 litres only works out at 11 us gal or 9 uk gal which is not enough for the shark. they really need a bigger tank with around 35 gals in it. found that on google as well hth

see pictures for the hiding places (wilder)

Youch. That is waaay too many fish. Way too many.

1 Dwarf Guorami (male)

1 Kribensis Cichlid (male)
2 kribensis Cichlids (female)

Any idea how big most of them get? Angelfish- 6''+ (but disk size of that or more), sucking loach- 11'' and gets aggressive as it gets older, RTBS- 4/6'' (forgotten which but can be aggressive)... The kribs get aggressive if they spawn.... You see the problems? Its not hiding places, its the sheer number of fish in what really is a very small tank. Even going by the unreliable inch per gallon guideline you have a minimum of 33'' of afult fish in an 11g tank...

i plan on buying a bigger tank when they grow but my current problem is the aggressive shark, any tips/advice based on my pictures?

No, apart from hurry up with that tank (ie, next week or sooner) or take the shark back (or give to someone who can properly house it). Its not a case of getting another tank 'when they grow'- you have a lot of territorial fish that need plenty of space. And they might not even grow- for all you know they're being stunted, and thats not a good thing, to put it lightly.

I agree with what has been said you are way and truly overstocked, the shark does he look like he has some white edging to some of his fins.

hey dudes, what if i move the shark would that be good?

would he be alrite in a 65 litre Bi-Orb tank?

2 (non-aggressive) Green Tiger Barbs
3 Blue Harlequins
2 Red+Black Platys
1 Simese Fighter
