I just checked in my nearest pets @ home, and while some had white marks, most did not.

meh, shows it's not uncommon :X

...and since when was a LFS with a small tank packed FULL of highly territorial RTBSs a good guage of how a healthy, unstressed fish looks?

IME Pets@home have the most peculiar setups that you really would not want to reproduce in the home.

Partly they get away with it because the fish are in transit, only there for a short time and so stunned by the journey etc that they don't get round to trying to establish territories. Think commuters on a packed train- they don't die from it, but you couldn't expect human beings to thrive under those conditions (or
refrain from murdering each other) for more than a short space of time.

Partly- well, they don't get away with it. Their death rates are horrendous. Some of this is due to stress or stress-induced infections.

If only we all kept our fish as well as Pets@Home eh?

RTBS is well know for there agreesive behave thats why I dont keep them with any non agreesive fish. It should be house in a frican cichlid community tank for best result.

could you name some african cichlids?

LOL....The RTBS isn't aggressive enough for you? Listen, I have an RTBS in with some Labidochromis Careleus and he can hold his own. That's against Cichlids that are probably three times as beefy as he is. The shark needs a very large tank or he needs to go back to the shop. He can't stay where you have him. Period.

im getting a 55gal ;)

Then make sure you have lots of caves. Coconuts work great and are cheap. Cut them in half, clean out the meat then cut a little opening for a door, brush most of the husk off the outside. Boil them for about an hour or two to squeeze out most of the tannins. They sink naturally so just pop em in the tank.

Sorry to go off topic in here but I was just reading through this thread...

Is your signature for real?

haha, i can always hope :p

hes in a 50gal now, no more aggression from him :D
