Angry Shark

i looked, they are all to far away, also i have no money in my paypal :(

A quick update before I sleep (I said I had half an hour spare! I didn't want to be awake this long!).

Discovered the tank is actually 40 litres.

The algae eater is indeed a CAE.

She said she'd get a new tank.

I'm going to sleep now before sleep deprivation kills me.

I agree with what has been said you are way and truly overstocked, the shark does he look like he has some white edging to some of his fins.

this is a lil late into the thread, but my red tailed shark does have white tips like his does on the fins, what does this mean?

im a guy  :music: :drink: :hey:

This is normal for the redtail black shark to have this white place on the top of his or her fins. Atleast ever healthy RTBS I have set eyes on has this white on them..........

Sucking Loach is his official name http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/algeater.htm

It is, as I thought, a Chinese Algae Eater, (English names are never "official" but vary from place to place, sometimes from shop to shop; it's the Latin names you want to look out for).

As these fish grow up, they get very big, territorial, aggressive and start sucking the slime coat off other fish, killing them. They are usually sold as juveniles and buyers don't realise how nasty they get. (Mine were ever such sweet little things when I first got them and then turned into teenagers from hell). Not a community fish at all, and definitely not a fish for a small tank like yours, so you will need to make long term plans for him. If he is small, it is probably a less urgent problem than your RTB, but it's one you need to be thinking ahead for.

he is small, ill probably rehome him when he gets big, but for now he enjoys cleaning my tank :)

I think you would enjoy being locked in a small room for a few days, then you would get frustrated by it and start to attack. SO WILL YOUR FISH!

hes stopped attacking, ive made him some rock caves

and the new tank will be here by the end of december

A healthy mature RTBS should be dark black all over it's body / fins. I would have thought that the white on the fins is either an unusual defect or a sign of a stressed / unhealthy fish. As has been said the RTBS in question is in too small a tank and the tank is heavily over crowded with other territorial fish. I'm not surprised it's aggressive.

untrue, almost all RTBS have a white tip on thier dorsal fin, they are probably defected if they do not have this

What are your sources for that information? As personally I think it's complete nonsense.

ive not seen a RTBS without a white fin tip in any fish shop ;)
