Angels prefer slightly acidic water so 7.7 is a bit high but like most fish they can adapt. Most people say angels are a little more delicate so that could be stressful.
As for tank mates, others have mentioned cardinals and neons but angels will probably eat any fish that is small enough to fit in their mouths. That could include any slim-bodied fish, even otos. I have 4 in my 75 gallon with 10 black phantom tetras, 3 SAEs and some corys (don't know how many I have left since the tank is heavily planted. They all get along fine and only chase each other when the food goes in the tank. Their a bunch of pigs.
Well today I picked up the angels (4 silver angels) and also 2 brachysynodontis. Having researched the brachys they are quite peaceable and shouldn't bother the new angels. Naturally I shall be watching the tank members very closely. They are all georgeous and I hope to add a few more brachy's once the current members have had a few weeks settling time and more plants and hiding places are sorted.

Lovely angels. I've got one angel who's getting bigger now and I'd thought of moving it into my 30g with platys, gupps, apistogramma and hoplo cats. Anyone think that's ok/ not ok? Sorry I'm borrowing this thread as well!
Ahhhhh!!! Devestation found in my tank this morning......of my plants. I don't know if it was the angels or the brachy's that did it but I spent a good 10 minutes fishing out leaves.

P.S:Glolite that sounds like alot of fish for a 30. Platties are fine with them, but then mine are still juvies, not adults. The platties are being moved within the next month or two anyway. I'd read up on all your choices and see what their needs are etc then decide on what you'd like once you feel ready to go ahead.
