Angelfish

Cardnal(Sp) tetras, neons( may get eaten by the angels when the angels grow larger)skirt tetras, basically any tetra that does not have a habit of fin nipping, the only one i have had a problem with like that was the serpae tetra, who nipped my angels fins like crazy.

or the Harlequin rasbora which i have kept with all of my angels. most of these fish can be found in the forum's index.

i know serpaes can be real fin nippers, but mine do perfectly with angels, in fact the only fish they nip are themsleves, and you can tell they are freindly, cause when one's not looking, one swims slowly up behind the other and nips them. it's quite funny. but ya, i keep my angels with bettas, gourami, mollies, catfish, and ghost shrimp.

Hi, I have just put 5 emperor tetras in my tank with a pair of angels and other fish and they seem fine sofar. I'm not sure ifthey're fin nippers, never thought of that :*) I got them cos they were biggish

Didn't really wanna start a new thread so thought I'd 'borrow' some space in here. Hope no one minds. :)
I want to put angels in my 55g, which currently has only one female platty in it. I have plants on order for it which haven't yet arrived. It already has 10 live plants in it. Will this be ok? NitrItes = 0 Ammonia = ) and NitrAtes is approx 15ppm. PH is about 7.7.
Hugs,
P.

P,

Is the tank cycled already or behggining to cycle? If its alreayd i dont see why not as long as you add the fish slowly.

Yup, tank is cycled. I'm more concerned about problems involving my female platty as her new home is not yet up and running. She was only put there because of a naughty male so she's not been ill in any way or I wouldn't consider it. Eventually she'll be given a new home with some other female platties but until then I don't want her going back to the community tank with the male. But if the angels don't mind a laid back female platty then that's excellent. Would be good to see some more fish in there sooner rather then later as the bacteria will die back with only one tiny fish to deal with. Last thing I need is it going into a mini cycle!
Thanks for responding Spyderdf. :)
Hugs,
P.

Well, i have kept platys and guppys with my angels and nothing happened. You can run out and get an angel or 2 if you want. because i dont think the platy is going to keep the bacteria alive ;) Just keep an eye on the angels to make sure they odnt go at each other all the time, and that the platy is ok.

Just make sure when u start adding fish u add slowly to build up the filters bacteria. If you add too many fish at one time the bacteria will not be able to keep up with the fish and will cause ammonia spikes ect.

Good luck

They should, i have them in my 55 with my angels befor i moved the angels out for my discus. I havent had a problem with them.

probably not, considering oscars can get aggressive, and angels have such long fins, no.

just please remember that a catfish like that will eat anything that can fit in its mouth. so once it's too big for a 55g, there's a limited number of people who can or will take it in. plus, there's no telling what all of your other community fish it will have eaten by that point.

Yeah... but what kind of catfish? Thier could be a very large difference..

Anyways, Solar Cats/Sun Cats (w/e you want to call them) Grow rather large... and I sure hope you have a tank in mind already, so many times people say they are gunna get a larger tank but don't. If I were you, I'd go with something maybe like pictus cats, but one could argu that the wiskers could really really scare the angelfish, maybe you should look into something like hacketfish, interesting and keep the top of the tank. Then a schoal of Carndinals (if preditory instincts arent a problem), then keep the bottom cleaning crew simple, cories?
