Angel Fish & Gourami

From a few comments I've come across it looks like having Angels and Gourami together in the same tank might result in issues. If this is the case I'll have to quickly reconsider the stocking in the 125 gallon community tank I'm setting up, as I've just added 6 Angels and a pair of Dwarf Gourami. No issues so far, but it's early days yet and the Angels are only juveniles. If it came to it I'd probably return the Angels as I plan on getting more Gourami.

So, should this mix be avoided?

Hi, I had an issue a few years ago with my pair of angels with some opaline gourami and it is quite a common thing but in a 125 depending on how many gourami get added I cant see a massive issue the space should spread out the aggression. What other gourami are you thinking of? Whats your stock list going to look like as well I love big tanks

I have a tank with a breeding pair of angels plus some young and opaline, gold, pearl and snakeskin gourami, I dont have any bother between them. I have lots of plants and bogwood and large swimming areas. Not sure how the Dwarf gourami would fair though.

Hi. I have two fully-grown angels and an adult opaline gourami with no problems at all. The gourami only objects to any other gourami being added to his tank so is the only one.

With this tank I want to go for a variety of attractive looking and/or unusual varieties, having just switched from a single species setup (mbuna cichlids). So far the stocking includes 1 x Golden Nugget Pleco, 6 x Angels (marble?), 4 x Czech Blue Rams, 2 x Dwarf Gourami, 2 x Nigerian Red Kribensis, 3 x Goby and 3 x Synodontis that were in with the mbuna. Sounds like a fair few already but the tank still looks really empty as all are either juveniles or naturally small species and the Synos usually only come out at night/early morning.

The thing I've found so far is that the more colourful the variety, the smaller they tend to be. The Nigerian Red Kribs are smaller than most other varieties, the Czech Rams won't get as large as say Bolivian Rams and the Dwarf Gourami are smaller than most other Gourami. Not sure what I'll go for next, but I really do like Gouramis, particularly the Opaline variety.

I'll stick with the Angels for the time being and just keep an eye on things.

I have two opal gouramis, a gold gourami and and adult angel all in the same tank with no issues, in fact all four will happily eat together right out of my hand!
