Ammovec Or Ammo-lock

I saw on the label in the photo that it said freshwater or marine but I was kind of thrown by the statement about "saltwater purification bacteria". I know absolutely nothing about marine tanks but would think there was a difference in the bacteria need for freshwater as opposed to saltwater. Actually, this stuff sounds like another "bacteria in a bottle" product that really won't do anything.

hi if i do these water changes is it gonna mess up the cycle finishing i dont wanna mess it up more an it is already.

no, adding chemicals is a sure fire way to bugger it up.

once again this is all explained in the link, (read it!) but

the process of cycling is developing bacteria in your filter, the bacteria do not live free swimming in the water so removing water will not remove the bacteria, there will still be some ammonia present, enough to keep the bacteria developing, but you must keep the ammonia and nitrite levels low by dilluting them with regular water changes so the levels do not get dangerous for the fish

:good: That'll be the one!! :good:
Supposed to be quicker than something like cycle though because you add it every day rather than once a week. If you believe in these products then it is highly regarded, I just told my lfs that i'd rather not waste my money...

How CAN these be bacteria ? The good 'ens start to die after half a hour ! They are a con.

You are supposed to add ammonia DAILY when cycling...

Actually, I think it works best when you only add ammonia after it drops to near zero. Adding daily, in my opinion, raises the level too high in the beginning and slows the start of the cycling process. If you add 5 ppm every day, by the end of the 3rd day, you will most likely have 15 ppm of ammonia as it's unlikely enough bacteria are present to process any yet.

I was referring to adding daily once the cycle has begun... theres no point discussing it, theres a pinned article on the topic.
Its a shame folk dont do a little reading before putting their fish in a microwave ! LOL

You can't blame people for taking the advice and doing what their lfs say if they don't know any better. These people sell the stuff so they 'should' be the experts. We just need to be thankful and patient when people discover the forum and increase their knowledge further.
