Ammonia Rocks?

I was just at my local wal-mart and I noticed that they had some sort of rock that asorbs Ammonia???

has anyone tried it?

I'm not looking for an excuse not to change water, etc, I'm just curious as if it works...

Yes it can absorb ammonia but why would you want to do that?

Ammonia feeds your filter. If you have ammonia registering in your water then you have a problem that needs putting right rather than relying on something just to take it out.

Ok, so if you are doing a cycle WITH fish then I suppose it could reduce stress to the fish but I prefer to cycle without fish.

BTW, we water change to lower the nitrAtes mainly
