My ammonia levels are high.

Does anyone have tips how to lower them.

My plants are loseing lots of leaves. I think is the main cause. I have added plant food to improve the plants which they have. But algae is covering some of them making it look horrible.

I have a feeding ring and only feed once a day.

I do a weekly water change 50%.

more water changes its the only way
are you cycling at the moment do you
have fish in there what are you readings

Can you post your test results?

Water change, water change and water change......the best thing you can do to keep your levels as good as possible along with removing any rotting leaves on your plants as soon as you notice them. It might be a good idea to be doing slightly smaller water changes but 2 or 3 times a week and if your ammonia is high at the moment then you need to be doing a wc asap ;)

Is been running a few mths now, with no probs.

I have a small community fish:

Tetra, Angel fish, platies, guppies, danio, cory. It definatly not over stocked.

the ammonia levels have change to yellow = 0ppm - But sure something wrong -some fish at swimming at surface

nitrite is blue 0ppm
