Ammonia High

Oh ok normally how long does it take for the bacteria to develop?

I have done a 25L water change and I have got the ammonia down to 4ppm and the tiger barbs have moved to the bottom and instantly seem happier but now what to do?
How do I drop this down, more large water changes today?

Think the rule of thumb is if you take 50% of the water out it drops the ammonia by 50% aswell

Only just noticed there's 4 pages to this after I'd replied so no doubt someone's already said this

Your nitrate is fine but you should do a water change to remove the nitrite - 50% should do it :)

I finally think I've conquered the cycle, my ammonia now reads 0ppm nitrites 0ppm and nitrates 20ppm?

Fish are happy feeding everyday

Am I correct ?

All sounds good. :)

Keep testing every day to make sure it's not a fluke, but when you get that kind of result every day for a week you can consider yourself cycled :)

Oh yeah I definatly will do and the key is water changing as I've found out
