This seems to be holding up much better than the water lettuce
Not sure if its the light or because I have reduced flow in the lower sections of tank.

Sometimes some floating plants do not do so well in one tank than it does in another even if its set up in the same room.

I have two tanks side by side, slightly different set ups, one has T8 lights and the otehr T5 and different substrate etc, but both at same temperature and same tap water etc, water lettuces grows real well in one tank but dies off in the other, silvania natans does terrible in one tank and flourishes in the other.

Could be down to a number of things, flow, lights, ferts and water quality. I tend to see what grows well and stay with that and if plant dies I take it out and replace with another specie and see how it fares, trial and error innit ;)

Yeah I think so.my lettuce seemed to burn quickly.the frog bit not so much.but there is def less movement on the surface.I see I am getting bba back after removing my internal filters.I had to add a wave maker to increase flow down below.

In the past when I had duck week at one point it almost died out. It was hardly growing yet my algae was out of control.  More water changes helped it but it just wasn't doing well.  Later I found I have about 2000ppm phosphates.  Once I got that down it quickly recovered.    I now know that if my nitrogen levels are reading zero phosphates will quickly build up.  However if I add nitrogen whenever the levels get to zero the phosphate levels stay under control
