ok so some slight changes have been made to my scheme as i have no found the fish i really won't the cockatoo

so i just wanna chek the new plan is ok

its 40gl amazon theme

2 gold rams
2 blue rams
20 cardinals
10 fire head tetras
3 Cory peppered
3 Cory schwartzi
3 Cory panda
7 otos

25 gl guppy tank

5 flame guppies
5 blue guppies
5 sunburts guppies
1 small plec dtill trying to photo him for id
3 cockatoos 1m 2 f

ok both in tersm of compatablity, and also i ahve beenb advised to add the corries to teh enw tank first after teh fishless cycle shoule i add all 9 at once?

also i have some silver tips which have a new home how hardy are they i could use them in the amazon tank (the 40 gl) for a while to help to matuer it

the 30 gl is already set up and matuer, and indeed house the panda cories 2 otos and 2 rams which will be mvoed over in due course and then the guppies added. there are already 7 guppies in there as well

so is the plan a goer so to keep asking seemingly very simerlar question but dispite the high post count iom really new at this and wanna get it right!

cheers for the time guys

I'm not seasoned at the whole aquarium thing yet, but I'd say they are atleast overstocked. I'm sure the types (atleast in the guppy tank) will be fine together, but I think there are too many. the loose rule is 1" per gallon, though I think you can get by with a little more with good filtration and water changes. Plus, the fish need plenty of room to swim. I think the more they are packed in, the more problems you may with them nipping each other, too.
Also, I think it's better to add them just a few at a time, giving at least a few days, if not a weel, between each addition so it won't send your tank into mini-cycles.
Like I said, I haven't been doing this long, so someone else may be better in giving advice. Hope this helps, though, and good luck!

i think the stocking and compatibility in both looks pretty good (i cant comment on the cockatoos though unfortuantely - and 20 cardinals may be a few too many - maybe only 10 now that i think of it - 10 should form a very nice school)...with tetras, in general the rule is 2" of tetra per gallon since they are smaller and produce relatively little waste compared to other broad-bodied fish, so you should be good there...

i would not add all the cories at once, probably just the first 6...especially not the pandas right away as they are teh most sensitive by far (same with the cardinal tetras and rams, really)...they are all farily sensitive and should have a nicely matured tank before moving them in
