Amazing What Some Shop Will Say!

Well i look after tanks for people and shops for a living...

And i was amazed to see one of my customers last week showing me his new fish. Now it's not a large want it about 2' wide and 3' high with a ehiem 2028 external filter, well stocked with mabuna.

Well we was looking at some fish in a large aquatic store nr heatrow airport, a couple of weeks ago and he told then what he was keeping African cichlids in tap water (hard) and showed an interest in the the discus and they explained that the tank was fine for them with 12-15 other cichlids!!!!

He's got i discus at £95 and 4 at £15 each..... So i've had to explain to him the problems here and that he needs to return them or rehouse them.

It's amazing what some people will do to get a sale! esp as their need a large tank and not to be mixed with the Africans.

Some shops so annoy me!!!!!!!

OMG that's terrible! That's as bad as the people who sell oscars or other similarly sized fish to people with small tanks (or fish with that kind of temperament to people with communities). Horrible.

wow, he could turn into one very angry customer when something happens to them Discus,

just to put the boot on the other foot, yesterday i spent 15 minutes trying to talk a guy out of keeping Discus, because he wanted to keep them in his biorb
after a long conversation his last words to me before wandering off where "I still think i'm just gonna add two small Discus"

some people just don't deserve to keep fish

yup people should research before they buy , but most poeple who havent spent much time looking tinto fish go off what the shop tells you as theyre supposed to the ones who know about what theyre selling

The worst thing is he could of just phoned me before buying asking if it was ok, but he felt a shop of that size would know what they was talking about!

I've told him to return them unless he wants a new 6' tank for them to live in.
His choice now.

if i had the money i'd choose the 6' tank and keep both ...
