These two show how much the water level varies from the wavebox:

And this video shows the wave action even better:

Also, here are some shots of the old tank's fuge, which is now standing alone in the kitchen.

To get an idea how small the Gobiodon okinawae is, that is 25mm pipework he is next to, and the pane of glass is 4mm wide.

And, since I had the camera, a couple of shots from the big tank:

nice tank, what are the stats? (size e.t.c.)
The tank is 60x24wx18h. It has a sump that is 48x12wx18h. I am awaiting delivery of a 60x8wx12h fuge.

Circulation in the tank is provided by a Tunze Nano Stream 6045 (4,500LPH) and a Tunze Wavebox (6212) on a light sensor which moves all of the aquarium water back and forth (as shown above).

The tank doesn't have much light at the moment. I will be getting either a 400W or 250W Metal Halid for one side, and keep the current 150W for a softies side. This will be complimented by one white T5 and 2 blue T5 tubes (each 54W). The final white T5 will sit over the fuge.

The sump houses a Tunze 9010 skimmer and a slowly filling up deep sand bed. Once it is all in I shall enclose the sump in as much darkness as possible to create a cryptic zone.

Current stock includes:

2 clowns
1 purple dartfish
1 red dragonet
1 brown sailfin tang
1 copperband butterfly
1 saffron goby
1 zebra goby
1 white ribbon moray eel
1 damsel

2 striped cleaner shrimp
3 blood shrimp
2 urchins
some snails
a hermit
a tiny remnant of a failed acropora frag which hasn't quite died yet
a plate coral which has started to flourish.
a horde of aiptasia (hence the copperband)

your fish are beutifulk i wish i could have a marine tank
And why couldn't you?

The ex-fuge tank cost a fiver. The natural live rock cost me about £8 or less from the store with the rest made myself for the princely sum of about £2. The movement on the tank is from a fluval 1plus, but a small powerhead for a tank that size is around a tenner, especially if you go second hand. The light is an industrial 24W T5 HO unit which cost me about £27 including the wires. The bulb was around £5.

Total cost of this tank: about £60 for dry everything except livestock.

Marine doesn't HAVE to be expensive, you just have to do a bit of reading and you will find there are all sorts of short cuts.

Some of the best marine advice i have heard on here in a long time, shows this forum is not all 1 way if you get what i mean. The tank is ... WOW, thats the only word. I love the purple firefish, hes so cute!

The tank is only about half set up at the moment, if that.

I still have to put at least one or two more bags of sand into the display tank, I reckon the sump needs a good 10-15kg of sand to complete the DSB.

Then once that is done I can stack up the rock on the left hand side of the tank to create a nice large sand expanse.

After that I have to acquire a new light (still can't decide out of 400W or 250W) make the hood and then set up the fuge.

All the while I am also setting up a 2 foot tank for interesting fish. I can't decide between jawfish, frogfish or scorpionfish. Will see what the lfs picks up for me.

looks good andy :good:

love the little yellow dude in the last couple of pics, what's his scientific name?

So assume with all that lighting your gonna do a reef then huh andy? I thought i remember at one pt you saying that you would never go beyond fowlr with your preds... but maybe im mistaken.... and holy crap, that wave machine must be massivly powerful to push the water around like that. if you dont mind me asking... how many clams it set you back?
