Lol - yes, I had marbles but it wasn't actualy for the convicts :p The tank had actualy been set up to breed some barbs (hence the marbles) but I also had 2 pairs of convicts in another tank which were breeding relatively happily together but I wanted to empty the tank to put in some paradisefish fry that I needed to move out of their breeding tank immediately - so I scrapped the barb breeding tank and put in one pair of convicts. The other pair I managed to offload on a friend :)

As for what they looked like - I'm not too big a fan msyelf lol - I realy don't do brightly-colored substrates - it was just the practical side of things for breeding eggs-scatterers that made me use marbles - and it just so happened that I didn't have anything else to put in as a substrate at the time when I added the convicts :p

I suppose it could look quite nice if the marbles are a decent color (but mine were mainly transparent but with swirls of red and green - I didn't like the combo. much lol)

:hyper: :hyper: :D I am a daddy 8) I have 100 + eggs attached to the side of my filter. they were not there at 8 30 am when i fed them so they are very fresh.

Thats Excellent, I Remember when my pair first had fry, I didnt know there was eggs, just one day I home, and lots a little things moving, I looked closer and went ballistic, It was great, I have never had fry before from a egg layer, they are great fish, I think I am gonna get a pair again one day.

You Said they where only layed this morning ? if so, then why in the picture thread, have you said that they hatched, or did you just not see the eggs when you fed them ,but they were there ?

Cause eggs take about 2 days to hatch.

 ok well spotted. i am just so pleased i am not concertrating. i said hatched this morning, i meant laid this morning  sorry

as pointed out by SABOY, all the eggs went white and died :-( . the male did'nt do his bit. now they have the idea i am sure they will get it right.

will keep you posted on progress :)

i kno ive sed this before lol but i bet if they had laid in a pit then they would of survived.

fertilising eggs in a vertical position cant be too easy lol.

even angels strugle and thats there natural way of doing it.

good luck tho and it could be alot longer than 2 days.

it was nearly a week after mine started guarding there pit before i saw any fry.
