Ok well I got a new 15 gallon tank and after I opened the box it came in I noticed it said that this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm. So will it harm me or my family or my fish???

Everything in California has that warning. I run printing equipment for a living, and have printed directions for drinking water faucets that have that warning. It's some sort of California law, being Cali they probably have some sort of legal warning for dihydrogen monoxide.

do you live in california? If its only said to be dangerous in one state, then it cant be all that dangerous. Cell phones are known to cause cancer but do we still use them? absolutely. And are 99.9999999999999% of us unharmed by them? Yep. Plus, i dont expect you to be licking your tank any time soon so any contact with this chemical, if there is even any trace of it left, would be minimal and insignificant.

FYI The phone thing is a common myth, there is still to date evedence to support it, along side the same debate for microwave ovens there is no links to cancer.

As a cancer survivor of 12 years I will tell you what my oncologist told me. We're all at risk for developing cancer, if they knew what caused ut there'd already be a cure.

I'm sure he'd roll his eyes at this one.
