That is stunning, thats soo much for sharing, i love altums... Cannot wait to set me a tank up in Colombia of these beautys...I recently saw a stunning altum tank in a fish shop in colombia, it was a 300g with a shoal of altums,look amazing, is there any more video's to this documentory? thanks

The absolutely biggest and prettiest altums come from the Rio Atabapo which is part of the border between Colombia and Venezuela. most altums are exported out of Colombia and are, unfortunately, not Atabapos. The problem is the Venezuelan military will hassle Colombian fishermen if the get near or beyond the midpoint. Thus most of the altums that come out have been caught in different areas that lie wholly within Colombia. That video I posted was shot in the Atabapo which is why all the guides are wearing T-Shirts that are pro Chavez's political party. The government gives them away and free is very appealing to folks who have almost nothing.

I am a member of a wild angelfish forum and they are trying to organize a shipment from the Atabapo this summer and I am the list. Heiko Bleher also has a website (am a member and you can find some good info there. He sells an altum video but does have a free snippet. He is an expert on these fish.

Yes i certainly know the issues between Colombia and Venezuela, Always something going on, when i was in Colombia recently the Venezuelans closed all the doors to Colombians including the import and export, which was not good news as they import alot from colombia,
It is such a shame that countrys within South America find it hard to get along, South America as a whole is the most beautiful place on the planet in my oppinion..
