HI, just stripped down my saltwater nano tank due to problems with condensation and protein skimer problems and the cost was too much for now.

Before keeping saltwater i had a community freshwater for about a year and thinking of coming back for now cos i love the hobby.

im not sure what to do with my tank at the minute. my tank is 2ft, 63litre tank.

1st option is to split the tank into 5 and keep 5 male bettas as i love the fish?
2nd option is to split the tank into 3. st the 2 ends would be 2 bettas having a 5th of the tank to themselves leaving the middle 3/5ths as a small community containing neons, guppies, corries and maybe rams?
3rd option to have a peaceful community including only 1 betta in amongst other fish?
4th option maybe to divide the tank in such a way that i can have a go at breading bettas but probably unrealistic whith the size it is?
5th option maybe to have a malawi tank?

any suggestions or comments please?

maybe 2 small for rams but not sure how for neons as there'll still be over a foot for them?

Hi
the tank is too small for option 5 so that rules out malawis, although a Tanganyika Multies setup would be an option,
option 2 with a split community is going to be a bit tight considering the tank is only 16G, so is not really worthwhile

my preference would be a small almost 'micro' community with a betta, a shoal of smaller rasboras, a group of pygmy corydoras, some otos, cherry shrimp, and possibly a few larger snails

you say its not worthwhile but would you say totally out of the question?

no its space more than anything. i would do what davo said

what is your opinion of the 5 fighters?

that would leave you with just under 10G for a community, which really limits you on species that would thrive in this small space

Agreed that would allow for 5 and a bit gallons per betta, which is ideal

so what species would be suitable for a 10g community?

"Besides the tiny, peaceful, community fish listed above, there are slightly larger or more common fish (guppies, platies, neon tetras, otos etc) which also do well in smaller tanks. The purpose of this post, however, was to provide a short list of miniscule tropical species so please forgive me for not coming up with a comprehensive (and extremely long) list. " (taken from 10g link)

this says neons will do ok in the smaller space?
