All Pond Solutions Tank

I had a pretty sad situation with a chinese SunSun tank.

Basically, the tank developed a leak roughly 1 year after I set it up.

The water must have been leaking unknown to me for months. It was coming from the seals of the tank and dripping into the top of the stand (ie the flat base).

My stand had screw holes in the top to connect the stand pieces together. Because the tank was rimmed, this seemed to only increase the amount of water underneath the tank.

Basically, the water was entering the inner wood (behind the veneer) of the stand trough these screw holes. This resulted in one side of the stand looking 'ruffled', and feeling damp.

ObViously concerned, I investigated further which is when I found the above.

The tank stand was literally falling apart because of the water damage and given a little while longer, I feel that the piece of wood would have given way causing the whole tank to collapse.

I was lucky.

It was a 360L tank.

This was a good number of years ago though, so I hope that it was a one off and that the tank seals have been improved. I see they are always changing and upgrading their products so I assume tank QC is now better.

Anyway, hope I didn't scare you. Not even sure if your tank is SunSun. It's just I always feel obliged to mention it.

Filter wise, I found the overhead filter brilliant. Powerful and very easy to clean. As long as it is kept free of debris, it works great. I did supplement with an external too though for piece of mind.

I presume you meant this post? ^

I read that and he is talking about the chinese Sunsun tanks. I don't believe they are the same brand? I may be mistaken however. If that is the case, I will be a lot more cautious. As I said before, I'll probably still order one, and if it is truely awful, I will return it. The law gives me 7 days when buying online to return w/o any reason, and up to 6 years for returning it as not fit for purpose, so I'm fairly happy to take the risk. Again, this is unless somebody with experience with these tanks reports more than poor aesthetics...

you read the whole thread and still want lol? each to their own :good:

Courrier will call you to arrange a day between 9-5
the tank leaks and the stand will be blown over, I may change my mind :good:

Some one already told you that in this thread

Sunsun are the Chinese manufacturer of All pond solutions. When they come over here they just get branded to ASP.

I have to remain impartial on these kinds of things, however, I have seen one of these in the flesh and i agree with Minnnnts comment, there are loads better tank on Aquariums classified that sell a lot cheaper.

Ahhh, ok. Apologies then, I didn't realise SunSun we're the manufactures and just re-branded.

Personally, I'd stay away from the tanks (based on my experience) but would use things like their pumps and wavemakers etc. I've had a 12,000 L/H SunSun wavemaker for years and it is brilliant - at a fraction of the cost of more recognised brands. I'm sure plenty of people haven't had problems though, I'm just one person. It's just I would want to risk a disaster in my living room or worse, possible injury with another large SunSun tank.

ps. When I got my tank, the hood and cabinet was already scratched, plus the lights looked well dodgy (didn't have much of a problem with them though, just needed a gentle tap every now and again).

With regards to your situation, was the tank a complete write off or could it be repaired? Was the siliconing just dodgy and therefore may have benefitted with an extra applicationon receipt of the tank?

I have the 4 foot version of the tank, was really impressed with the tank and hood, the hood filters not up to scratch in my opinion mate. Trickles out the top after a week of running and the plastic (cheap plastic) spray bar clogs up so easily. My opinion would be to switch to external mate, I just went with a tetratec ex1200 and was the best thing I ever did pal. They are good tanks tho mate

It could have been repaired if all the silicone was removed then added again.

When I got it, the Silicone was messy but there was loads of it on there.

Part of the problem was that I was never convinced that 8mm glass was enough for a 2ft tall tank that was just under 4ft in length.
