I've not heard wonderful things of them but I've heard other people saying it's fine. Really mixed reviews

I have the 2200 ef (I think) and it's pretty quiet, so I'd think you've got a problem. Does yours have a prime button? I find after a water change I have to lean really really hard on the prime button to get the air out a few times then the noise goes away. Also if that doesn't work do you have sand? I read somewhere sand can get stuck in the impeller and cause a racket

the problem was here from the start. ive tried everything there is. im super impressed with everything about this filter if im honest, yeah its cheaply made and bits will break if you dont take care of it. but the flow rate is superb and the time it takes to clear your water is excellent. compared to my impossible to hear cristalprofi its awfull in sound. ive defo got a problem. ive had a replacement head already. the company want me to send back the whole filter and dont seem to understand i cant do that without keeping the media. i was speaking to a member on here who said his is super quiet and ive heard others say that too! for a bedroom setup, its driving me crazy. if it were in my living room i woudnt mind.

If you have extra air going into the filter check all your intake pipework. I had a problem with one of mine (I have 7 of these aps filters I love them). Make sure the hose is fully pushed up to the line on the black u shaped piece. Try removing it and using a dab of vasaline all around the end of the pipe and re fit the hose (its not harmful to the fish) if its still sucking in air you may have a pinhole in the black u-shaped piece. Where the intake pipe joins to the u shaped piece is this under water? sometimes if its above and the intake pipework is not pushed up as far as it will go, sometimes air will get sucked in there. Try all this first then e-mail APS explaining what you have tried, they should send you a new u piece if it is that sucking in air.

i have checked everything. ive had and got other externals so as far as im concerned im out of ideas. i cant see any visible air getting in. i was misleading on the fact that i may have sounded like there was a big deal of air getting in, there isnt, the fact is even when i have got all the air out after a insane amoun t of tampering its still loud and noisy! :/ this is my bedroom mbuna tank and i cant afford a different filter as i just got made redundant. makes me wanna quit this tank if im honest. its so annoying! lol

just had the latest email back from the guys i bought the filter off. apparently they found no fault with the video i sent them, time to email aps directly i think!
