About a month ago my tanl was healthy and all the fish were fine, then i bought a zebra convict cichlid and it all went wrong. The next morning I found my suckerfish dead flowting roud the tank and most of its tail chewed off.I asked the people at the fish shop and they didn't know how it had hapend but after removing the cichlid offered me a full refund and another pleco. After about three days the suckerfish had vanished. We asked in another pet shop and they didn't know what was the matter, so i bought another pleco and watched what hapened, they got along fine as far as I could see so i figured that ws the end of it, but after a few weeks it happened again.I found it dead in the tank, and it had been perfectly healthy the day before.Does anyone no what's wrong?

Sounds like the new fish fetched something nasty into the tank with it, are they flicking and rubbing against objects, heavy breathing, red inflamed gills, darkening in colour, anything.

plecs do burry did you think of that?
 what plecs d you have that burrow?

ours all 'dig' and throw sand about but dont burow.

What other fish do you have in there - and do you know what the type of plec you have be buying is?

I tested the water and they said it was fine, there has been no sign of desease and I don't think my fish ever burrowed??But I've got a new one now and it seems to be fine :D

First of all, get your own test kit. It's no good expecting the LFS to give you accurate information. The water's 'fine' is not enough to go on - you need exact numbers for pH, ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte. Also, what's the temp of your water? What did you feed the plec and is there any bogwood/driftwwod in the tank? Lastly, and possibly the cause of death, what's your LFS's pH compared to your own? It could very well have been pH shock that killed it.

Oh and plecs don't burrow as far as I know :p ...maybe you're reffering to certain loaches or something.
