All My Plans Shattered!

i sit in between 2 fish tanks in a upstairs bedroom and was worried about whether the noise would wake the kids in the bedroom next door and they are both almost silent, i did have a small 30 litre tank with a really small aquaone filter and it made a right racket, so long as you get a decent make filter ther won't be a problem with noise.

My U4's are practically silent. The only thing you can hear is the ripples created on the waters surface, and then the hood covers that. Modern filters are very quiet explain to your mother!

be a man..(or woman) just go and get the tank, filter and a 'good' air pump.

set for cycle.

befor she see the tank, start a pre emptive strike like.. hey mum, look what i find in the e-bay , zero noise filter.
tell you mum to go to her room and you go with her. trust me she will not hear it in next door. problem solved.

if she say somthing els.. say, she dont let u grove up. that will do.

good luck.

I have 5 tanks in my room including 1x4ft and 2x3ft.The big powerful filters are absolutely silent; don't use air pumps. Apart from the occasional splash when a large plec comes up for air, all I can hear is the sound of water like a running stream which I find very soothing because I deliberately raise my filter outlets and spray bars above the surface to oxygenate the water.

seen ur profile..

what? u r 19 years old?

i too used to worry about noises.. that my mum or dad would hear from my room.

not from fish tank though...

Lol, although this probably shouldn't be advised (going against house rules). If there is any way you can sneak it in without her seeing you then you should set it all up n leave it running. And leave is a couple of days (make sure she has no reason to go in your room and keep the door closed.

Then tell her you're very sorry, and it can still go back cause the point wasn't to break her rule if the rule is no tank. But to just proove that filters are infact silent nowadays... and show her the tank. Then go, so if the only problem was the filter... can you keep it?
