All My Fish Look Sick!

See post#13, just add some mature media from a filter off your other tanks....
Easy.
If you use SeaChem Prime as a dechlor this is also a serious advantage IMO.
Most bacterial aids are useless, the 2 commonly feted as actually worthwhile are NitroSpira and Bacinettes (concerns over Bacinettes usefulness also), i'm not sure on their availability in Oz but they would be kept refridgerated in your LFS.
But if you have mature media available from your other filters, you should be ok, obviouly in combination with observation, testing and regular water changes, gtg but keep everyone updated if you can.
I'd like to know if they improve after the temp/oxygenation issue is sorted.

Sychronised postage...
Get some SeaChem Prime (excellent product, should detoxify ammonia and nitrite), NitroSpira if available and bump up your water changes to approx 60% (20% morning 20% evening 20% before bed or similar) daily until the cycle is complete. Daily testing and monitor the fish for signs of illness, changes in behaviour, general oddness.
I like to avoid doing large water changes to avoid stressing my fish, then again it no longer seems to stress them at all, but old habits die hard.
Good luck.
Ps; Careful with other detoxifying products, many are considered worthless plus some ammonia lockers are reported to have caused fatal ammonia spikes.

I know Germ being as great as he is probably has this all figured out and stuff but just a side note for any future worries, Severums do tend to open and close their mouths repeatedly, not saying that it is the problem here but incase u ever notice a much less severe version of whats happening..

okay to let use know i have am running a 75cm air hose with a high pressure air pump and a aqua one canister filter that filters 700litres each hour, i just order`d Seachem Prime will this help the tank cycle? at the moment i use aqua master A.C.E,,,,

ill try and get somthing like NitroSpira, but for now ill drop the temp to 23C, and do water changes every day :good:

Murphy;
Nice sarcasm there, thanks :*
Realistically this;
i have a 160litre 4 foot tank with 3 gold severums, 2 electric blues and 3 electric yellows, all of them were fine entill today i noticed they all look like they need more air, they are opening and closing there mouths constantly, whats wrong with them?
Certainly suggests to me there has been a noticable change in their behaviour, not to you then? Considering it is also showing on the yellows, well, i'm not exactly Columbus but.....
Also i have said all along it may not be hypoxia, BUT if it is a worry, considering there are no meds involved the OP may as well treat as such?
Its also quite blatant, as i'm sure the OP would agree that the tank is certainly now uncycled, although probably unrelated to the original problem? Considering he has added erm.... well an uncycled filter..... and, well.... you know.... thrown the cycled filter out.....
:dunno:

Oz; SeaChem won't help the tank cycle, if anything it may slow it down, however it will detoxify the nasties related with cycling and illness.

Have you confirmed/checked that 23celcius is suitable for your fish, not insinuating anything just better safe than sorry.

:angry: I need a kip.....
