All My Corys Have Been Wiped Out

sadly, my last cory died today tehyve dropped one by one over the space of the last few months, 3 in the last 2 weeks tehy are kept in a tank with discus, neons, platinum tetra and some rummys. Sadly i had two varieties in there, bronze, and some older julii corys, which wer ethe last to go. I had 4 julii and 5 bronze. No signs of distress or problems in the tank prior to deaths, and all my other fish have been fine.

Sadly i canse see anything ive done wrong or altered to the norm either, other than adding a small quantity of melafix for a small wound on my discus (which has healed fine) they were fed pellets when the discus were fed so they got their share too so they didnt starve.

What temp are you running the tank at? If it's normal discus temperature then it might be too warm for the cories, which will have sped up their metabolism and led to a shorter lifespan.

i know jullis were capable of slightly higer temperatures

edit: working it out, its between 28-29oc usually

Thats too high for most corys,22-25 degrees is usual,the only cory that could handle 28-30 degrees are sterbai corys.Has said too high a temperature with lessen their life span.

Yep, too hot for Corys, plain and simple. Even if some species are capable of surviving it, there is a difference between surviving and thriving.
