I'm looking all over the pet smart Canadian website and all I can find for 5G fish aquariums are gold fish starter aquariums... S.O.S... finally I'm a fish fanatic... now I'm fish Crazy

yes buy a 5 gallon kit and buy a heater

Goldfish require all the same things that basic tropical fish do, except they don't need a heater.

So 5 Gal goldfish starter kit ( which should never ever be used for goldfish by the way ) is perfectly fine for your betta, all you need to buy is a heater for it if the tank already comes with a filter.

You will also need a lot more silk or real plants for him to hide in and rest on.

The reason I say 5 gals , is because 5 gals is easier to keep healthy and stable than 1 or 2 gals. Essential equipment like heaters and filters, are easier to find to fit 5 gal tanks than for smaller tanks. All of that extra swimming space plus weekly water changes will give your fish a better chance of long healthy life than the set up you have now.

It appears to be a very nice tank for your betta. You do realize it doesn't have a light, right?

Also, it seems to have mixed reviews if you care to read the reviews on it.

Don't know if this Eclipse 5 is out of your price range, but it appears to be a VERY nice tank - and with a light, too!!!

A light isn't essential, espescially since his current tank doesn't appear to have one either, and his plants are not real.

Filter and heater are all you need by way of main equipment .
