i posted a while back about gases being relaesed from my driftwood really worried, howveer i have noe figuered it out!!! :rolleyes:

it was simply oxygen being realsed form where algea had begun to build up on the wood as was pearling?

do you think this is right?

yeah bubbles are stll there now! will introduce a small plec of some sort soon and see if when the algea goes the bubbles do
 
Wood will dry out, leaving air "in" the wood. Once this is placed under water, obviously the air will escape as water eventually fills the gaps the air consumed. :)

For algae to release oxygen they would need to photosynthsise. This would recquire light. Unless im mistaken, the air you descripe coming out from your wood is beneath its surface, so adeqaute light might find it difficult to penetrate through the gaps in the wood. :nod: Just a thought! :)
 
well you would assume that the wood would have leaked most/all this oxygen by now...it seems to have going on for quite a long time now
 
thanx guys and most of the bubbles were formed on the woods surface i just assumed they had cme out of the wood, i dont tink its oxygen escaping form the wood as it has been soasking for a month beofre it was added to tank
