Algae Starting To Grow, Because Of Jmc Pellets?!?

Recently algae has started to grow in my tank on the plants and wood etc, iv been trying to find a possible cause and all I can think of is the change from algae wafers to jmc catfish pellets for my bottom feeders? I changed to these in order to stop conflicts over few but large pieces of food but iv noticed when the fish are eating them the majority breaks away into the water and after feeding the water its full of particles from the pellets
Could this be the cause? Obviously all the food in the water has to break down in time thus giving excess nitrates or what ever it makes?? To feed algae
If so any alternative bottom feeder foods recommended?

Quite possibly, I have always found that JMC products can cause problems if fed often and in quantity.

You say pellets.. the JMC catfish pellets? You should know that they are not a suitable replacement for algae wafers. Algae wafers are vegetable based and the pellets are meaty based (if I remember correctly). Have you considered breaking up the wafers into smaller pieces?

So, for example Corys do best on a meaty based diet, while plecos and snails need algae/vegetable based food. Shrimp on the other hand will eat everything quite happily.
