I bought some HC today on driftwood and it looks really nice but hase some sting (thread algae) on it I was thinking of burrying the wood and letting the HC grow off of it andonto the substrate and then pulling the wood out later. So my question is if I should try and remove the algae or just let the darkness under the substrate take care of it. Most of it is on the lower part of the driftwood.

HC on driftwood sounds strange, its a stem plant that I wouldn't think would do very well attached to driftwood.

Anyway, yeh I guess you could bury it under the substrate, to be honest the thread algae is in your tank so you'll probably want to be tackling it no matter what you do with the driftwood.
