Algae In Tank

Hi...new member. Tried the Tetra forums which is where I used to go for advice, etc. But it seems they are defunct. Anyway, I have a question about my established 10 gallon freshwater tropical fish tank.

It's been set up for over a year and running fine with no problems at all. I moved it to the bedroom from the living room and all of a sudden I have an algae problem. The plants and decorations have this green film on them. I am not sure what is the problem. They are not in direct sunlight, nothing except their view of the world changed. Not sure what other info you need..just ask. Oh , all my numbers are fine as well.

How long are your tank lights on for?

I know this is annoying, but we'd need some more details of your tank before we can get to the root of the problem.

How big is the tank, what's the stocking, filtration and substrate, what lighting do you have (and for how many hours per day) and ar they real plants or plastic (and how many)? Can you post the actual numbers from your tests also, please?

There is now a specific section of the forum for asking about algae problems, populated by some very knowledgeable people. I know very little, but I do know that different algae is caused by different things, so advising them what type of algae you are suffering from will be very helpful to them.

And welcome to the forum.

Oh come on guys ! its obvious! im gonna assume that in the tanks new spot it gets lots of sunlight. if my assumptions are correct. move it out of the sunlight (algae is also a result of lots of nitrate)

i forgot to finnish reading. there is always the option of eating the algae? :huh:

its rather tasty her il eat some, :sick:

Erm, the OP did mention that the tank was not in direct sunlight......
