I've recently set up a malawi tank with a lot of nice white holey rock and 2 bits of java fern. In the last week or so the nice white rock has become covered in yukky brown/green algae. I've cut down on feeding the fish, cos they are meant to graze on the algae..... yeah, right!! guess they ain't read the same books I have. Apart from getting my nice 'fish only' washing up brush out and scrubbing the blinking rocks twice a week, how do I get rid of the *&*$*£* stuff?

The tank was existing, ready cycled, I just re-aquascaped it for the malawis. Ammonia and nitrite are 0, nitrate is about 12. It gets a 30% water change, gravel vac and glass clean once a week. Fish are fed spirulina wafers, Hikari cichlid complete pellets, malawi frozen veggie stuff and the odd bit of flake. There is no 'loose' food in the tank - EVERYTHING goes :D

Help me get it pretty again please :(

It's quite normal for that to happen with ornaments, maybe think of getting some algae eaters for the tank.
