Hi all, over the last few weeks I have been getting a green algae like film on top of tank water which I have to remove by laying paper towel on top to soak it up. Some time ago I tried some different food which I have now stopped using in case that was the problem but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. I have done nothing new to the tank recently, and it's been running without this problem for some 2 years. My tank is a Juwel Trigon 190 and has no live plants. Any other reasons? Paul

How long do you leave the light on in a days time? Do you have anything that eats algea in your tank? Does any algea grow on your walls or anywhere else in your tank?

Hi, the light is on for about 12hours+a day, as with both tanks, and always has been, I have tried leaving the light off for a few days but it didn't appear to make much difference to the rate at which it appeared. I have 2 tanks and the Juwel is the only one affected. I have a bristlenose and some rosy barbs (these cleared the tank of algae after I originally 'cycled' the tank from new). There is a small patch on one side wall of the tank and a few tiny bubble like pieces which float at the waters edge. Paul
