I have totally cleaned my tank out, and am now wondering what the algae eater will eat! he was doing a terrible job at cleaning algae anyway. what can I give him?

What type of Algae eater is he?

depends on the type, some prefer meatier diets to others, some need bogwood others like there veg

i agree we need to know what type it is for a accurate dietry advice

all my plecos eat just about anything pleco wafers,prawns,fish,plants,wood and catfish pellets

he is a golden algae eater, was in with the common ones....I can get weed out of the pond

How old is he, when younger they may eat algae, but when they are older they will get a taste for a fishes slime coat when older, which may mean it would attach itself to some of the inhabitants of the tank.

he is very small, so young I would say. He will be out on his ear if he starts attacking my fish!
