So i picked up a pair of albis a few days ago and they are now in their won eclipse 3 system. The system is fully cycled and the pH is 7.4. The female is very active and always swimming around, but the male hides alot. I think he might be holding fry or eggs but I can't get a good look at home since he is always hiding. Is this typical behavior when they are holding? Anyway I plan on bringing the pH down to around 6-6.5 and have tetra black water extract, will this work well for the pH change? I was told by a employee at the local specialty fish store that it will work but won't create a stable pH and could result in rapid pH fluxes, is this true? Also I just picked up a batch of small ghost shrimp since I read that albis go nuts for live shrimp it helps get them into breeding condition, should I put them all in at once and let them get picked off as the albis want them or will they gorge themselves with so many in there and die? I really want to get these little guys to breed and be happy so any tips would be great. Thanks in advance.

Most fish will not gorge themselves enough to truly suffer from it. Instead they will eat all that they can of the right foods and will start to back away from food as they get into top condition. Once oyu have brought your fish into condition, you must back down on feeding or risk water quality problems from rotting food.
