Right yesterday i noticed one of my albino cory cats had something on its head, like on the top between its eyes, sort of like swelling.

Today iv woke up and now its turned red (blood colour) and his eyes look poppy and has a red spot to the inside of its head.

He seems to be swimming strange too, possibly struggling.

HELP!!

None of my other albinos, other corys or fish are showing these symtpoms or have anything.

He doesnt look good, what could it be, and what should i do.

And as i went for a closer inspection he swam off and hid behind the rock and is still there, which none of my albinos have ever done.

He came out of hiding for a short spell, his right eye is much more popped out than the other, not extreme though but very noticeable.

Do they have some sort of nostrils (only thing i can possibly explain it) on each side of the head on the inside of their eyes, because the red spot is on the left, and on the other side of the head in the same location it looks like thats becoming red too.

Water parameters

temp - 24oC
pH - 6.8
ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 10

I havent ever had a reading of nitrite since i fishless cycled the tank, but the only ever reading of ammonia was over a month ago when i got this new tank, but only for a few days and was only at 0.25, i got rid of it by adding more established media and a water change, and nothing since.

I do water changes at least once a week, around 25%, sometimes i do it twice a week because my Pleco craps alot and looks messy on the sand.

Im watching the Albino cory now and he seems agitated, not swimming like usual, and not like the others, he seems to be planted to the bottom of the tank when swimming, and when he does go up now and then, when coming back down he just seems to sink like a brick.

Hope any of this info can help, i dont want to lose another albino cory. Oh and my last casualty was a month a so ago - a neon tetra, my last cory cat death is well over a month and a half to 2 months.

No idea, but no ones posting, can you see the gills on your cory?
How do they look? Red or inflamed?

Compared to the other Albino cory's, his gills look okay, maybe a tad bit red but not much.

If he's swimming strange, something fungal, bacterial or protozoan is infecting his brain. Many fish can get pimples that are followed by strange swimming and sometimes death. Try a broad spectrum treatment that treats for everything as many things can cause this.

Bad bacterial infection it has now advanced and sounds to late.
Septicmia is hard to cure once it has progressed.
I would issolate the sick fish as the bacteria from the fish can enter the tank.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Woke up today and hes out in the open, the swelling has gone down a little and it isnt as red.

Is this a good sign?

He still isnt moving much, just seems to be planted there.

Yes it's a good sign, but fish can go down hill again.
I would add a bacterial med to the tank.
Good Luck.

Right i thought he was gettin better, he was out an hour or so ago, socialising with the others and doin his normal diggin play thing in the sand. But right now iv just seen something out corner of my eye, he swam full force into side of the tank, so i watched and he swam up around in circles, and was doing twists and stuff for about a minute then he stopped and hit the deck, and crashed into the sand, and is now on the bottom again hiding on the sand under the filter.

:(

Bless him he's dying, sorry.
Keep a look out for signs of flicking and rubbing.

I caught one of my other Albino cory cats flicking earlier, he doesnt do it much, once in a while.

The ill one is still alive, the swelling has gone down a bit more, and hes out of hiding more but doesnt swim much, but when he does it looks like hes getting back to normal (touch wood).

I keep treating the tank with the finrot and fungus stuff at the recommended amount daily at 9am. All other fish are fine.

Was the cory flicking before you added the med, as meds can make them flick.
