Airpumps

Hi

Just a quick question, is it necessary for the airpumps to be running 24/7

They are quiet noisy and I was wondering if they can be tunred off at night, They are only used for the
Air Curtains

Dont think theres harm in turning it off because i turn mine off at night, well i used to till we moved. Now tanks in the lounge so i dnt hear it lol.

But you could try to find a quieter one?

Oh and make sure u have a fair bit of surface movement, put ur filter outlet closer to the top so it moves the surface around. Will help with oxygen while the air pump is off.

hi. if your pump is below level of tank make sure you have a none return valve in the airline or you could get water syphoning back to your pump when turned off.

my rena 600 i can honestly barely hear when its on.

what airpump do you have?

Your -filter- needs to run 24/7. Airpumps with airstones do not, they are completely your choice.

Yep have none return valves fitted,

Pumps are eheim 7304's

and filter is running 24/7

Unfortunately the tank is right by the bedroom door and Er' indoors reckons its too noisy and cant sleep....lol

Yup, used to turn off the airpump/airstone every night on my son's tank when I used it during fishless cycling!
