i want to put more oxygen into my tank so i was finkin bou bying an air stone

are they good for there money or no point ..i want an air stone which goes with my tank to i dont want just the random commercial spong bob squarpants stone etc which are everywhere a nice tresure chest or can you buy a random big stone for your tanks ??

what price do they range from ??

also what light can i buy for my plants to live on ??

thanks

i must admit, i have a monster of a pump for my tank, it pushes out 4000ltrs/hour.

the bubbles dont actually put oxygen into the tank, it is more about surface disruption that disolves gasses or something like that, which thereafter creates the oxygen....someone step in to help me out here.

you can do this by merely have your filters outflow skimming the surface of the water.

that said, the power of my pump, causes significant surface disruption which helps all the same.

i would check out ebay and see what pumps there are on there, not knowing what your tanks size is, its hard to say really, its merely down to your choice. You can then either have air stones, and/or air curtains attached.

Heres a vid of my tank....

Eish!! Jackson... I assume you are english, & my guess is that you are under the impression that a larger airstone will add more oxygen to your water......

Oh!.. while I'm writing, I see 8inary has just taken the words out of my mouth.... and he/she is correct...

The bubbles only serves to "circulate" the water, so that the bottom water also gets in contact with the surface for oxygen exchange which takes place there... It does not actually add oxygen to your water.....

and your going on about plants? well adding an airstone will only make things worse, it will take all of the CO2 out of the water through the gas exchange from the surface disruption. lighting depends on the plant species your growing.
