Air Pump

Air pump? Doesn't really matter what size the tank is as it is not beneficial. Even a small 100lph one will do. All depends what you want to do with it mate.

I read somewhere that the only reason they are still rated (eg. 100L 200L etc) is for Under gravel systems. To use with a air stone/curtain any will do

IMO every freshwater tank should have an air pump. Are they NEEDED? No. Are they beneficial? Yes. They provide flow and very effective aeration. It may be rare, but I have seen air pumps alone save an entire tank of fish when the filter stopped working for various reasons (which definitely happens). Some people say this is too rare to even bring up, but obviously it has not happened to them so in their experience they are right, no tank needs one. But I have definitely seen it happen many times. Many fish like it anyways. For their cost they are more than worth it.

I always buy the largest, most are too weak IMO. I prefer the Azoo 9500 because on drsfostersmith where they are about $18, $13 when on sale. They are strong and quiet.

all I wont is to have some bubbles at the back of the tank lol and to be silent really

Back when I was a kid, air pumps used to be rather large and heavy. Think 10 inch cube.
They worked by rotating a large metal disc which was attached to a piston to pump the air. Beautiful to watch IMO and extremely silent.
Now all I see for sale is cheap plastic pumps that buzz quite quite a lot. I want one of those old style pumps.

Are they still made.

The pumps aren't that silent, but the noise of bubbles is also present. Any air pump will do for your needs, its more about the air stone you have.
