air powered filter for brackish tank?

i was wondering if i could use and air powered filter in a little 8 litle tank with a mudskipper in it as i cannot afford the proper expensive filtration for a brackish tank.

A sponge filter is perfectly adequate for a small single fish brackish tank, however a 8 litre ( 2 gallon) tank is no where near big enough for even a single mudskipper or any other brackish fish for that matter. Mudskippers nead a minimum of a 30g tank for a single specimin and the smallest recomended tank size for keeping brackish water is 5 gallons for tiny fish such as bumble bee gobies.

CFC is right. You're problem here isn't the filter but the tank. While there are dwarf mudskippers, the common species that you are likely to buy is quite large, easily reaching 15 cm in length and potentially more. While you only need a trivial amount of water for them (literally enough for them to dip into) they do need quite a lot of land.

Filtration, funnily enough, isn't a big deal as these fish are quite tough. Hard alkaline water with some salt in it (but not full seawater) is essential, as is humidity. The tank must be tightly covered so that humidty (and therefore warmth) builds up inside the tank. Failure to do this is a common reason people lose these fish.

hey, thanks for that, i can buy a larger tank quite cheap but i wasnt sure about the filtration. We get wild mudskippers around here and they do get 2 a reasonable size i have seen them about the 10cm mark.
