Panic panic panic....................:hyper:

Right you see it's like this, my tank was starting to look like it needed a bit of work, a water change and a bit of a pruning of the plants, so I lifted the lid to find............. a bubble nest in the corner!!!!!
Which maybe explains why my fighters been a little on the aggressive side. Both Mr and Mrs fighters seem to be very healthy.

So needless to say I didn't do the water change or the pruning as I didn't want to wreck the work he'd done.:good:

But now I want to know what do I have to do to give them the best chance of having the baby's and for the baby's to survive?

:fun::blink::unsure:

You have male & females in the same tank, how big is the tank?
As for a successful spawn, I'll leave that to the experts, but I do know having read here, that you're going to need a lot of tanks for any fry as you have to separate the males from the females

Yes I have a male and female in the same tank, They seemed quite happy together, they are both very nice fish. The tank isn't very big only being just over 60 liters, it has plenty of plant for the little missy to hide in, if she needs it.

:blink:

Panic over! The bubble nest has gone now, the little fella must have got fed up with the idea now!:-( Never mind it's maybe for the best.

So now I've done the water change and had a nice tidy up and the tanks looking nice again now. :):fish:

If your fish are not being nasty with each other, they may be breeding. In that case the bubble nest will contain eggs and should not be disturbed. If your fish are not breeding, remove the female ASAP. No matter what you may think about them, Betta splendens can not be kept long with more than one of the species in a tank if one of them is a male. It is not subject to interpretation or personal preferences, it is a simple fact. Except during the active breeding process, a male will kill another Betta splendens in a fairly short time, without exception, in any tank small enough to keep in our homes. During the actual breeding process, for maybe 24 hours, a male will tolerate a female that he is actively breeding with.
