OK, just won a Juwel Rekord 96 on ebay. It has a lot of extras with it at the moment, some of which I will most likely give away or swap. A mate of mine is buying the filter off me, to that frees up a lot of tank space and I was thinking of having it divided. So here are my questions:

What's the best way of dividing a tank that big filtration wise?

How many compartments do you think I could have in there?

How should I decorate it?

What shall I use as a stand? I don't want to sound like grimmy here but I don't really want to have it on a dedicated stand if I have to as it's in our hallway (it's a bit more that but you get my jist) and if I could buy a nice chest of drawers or sideboard for it to sit on that would be great.

Any ideas appreciated!!

I swear this is the last tank I'll buy!!

I wanna live at your house :D

I would get a lovely sideboard in your hallway in whatever wood you use most in your house, be it pine or mahogany etc. with drawers and cupboards, makes great storage and get a couple of people to sit on it and see if it takes your weight, if it feels a bit iffy put some strengthening joists inside and also screw it into the wall behind.

How big a Rekord 96? Do you know what's going in it fishwise?

it's 80cm long and 31 deep, holds 96 litres. I want it divided, just full of boys. I have 6 atm, two are in a divided tank already and the other 4 are dotted around everywhere, I just wanted to put them all together so the flat isn't cluttered with tanks lol.

I wish it was a house I'd have tanks everywhere, we live in a piddley 1 bedroom flat but I've managed to fit in a 60 gallon sorioty with ottos and kuhlis, a 8 gallon divided tank, 5 gallon hex, 3 gallon, and 2 1 gallons. I want to keep the 8 gallon and the 60, and make the new tank into a sort of barracks, only nicer lol.

I think I should charge 50p entry to come and see the tanks in the flat!!

I have a similar tank, although its 30gallon so a bit bigger. Looking at that, I think you could squeeze 4 boys in there and only because of the height and width of the tanks. Lengthwise, I'd only do 2 or 3 at a push but the extra space gives you more room IMO. Swimming space wouldn't be limited for them that way. But certainly not more than 4.

4 sounds about right to me too. A good way of dividing the tanks to allow water circulation is to use that plastic craft mesh (used for cross stitch) you can get from craft shops and probably on Ebay. All you need do is silicone it in

4 is fine as the four boys who are dotted around the place can have a dedicated home then. I really wish male bettas got on well together. Then I could have even more!

As the juwel box filter will be removed, what's the best filter to replace it with?

Probably one you can use a spray bar with, there was a great pic on here of someone's barracks... can't think who it was but it's a good guide of what you'll be needing to do :good:
